Going the Distance: Downwind Dashes in the Midwest
Tony Condon learned to soar with the Silent Knight Glider Club in Ames IA. He’s an aerospace engineer and CFI-G, now living in Wichita KS where he is the president of the Kansas Soaring Association. He started out making straight out flights in his Cherokee II pursuing his Silver Badge. Along the way he got into competition, learned how to fly a closed course, and moved into a Standard Cirrus. By 2014, the bug came back for making big straight out flights, and since then he’s exceeded 500 miles twice and finished up the Diamond Badge with a 750km Diploma and a National Record. He represented the US at the 13.5 Meter World Gliding Championships in 2015 and 2017.
