Terry Slawinski is a 1972 graduate of the Air Force Academy. His passion for soaring was ignited flying for 3 years in the Academy Soaring Program. He got his private glider rating in 1969, commercial in 1970, and CFIG in 1971 and is still instructing today. He has flown 28 different single and two seat gliders, 2 different two seat motorgliders, has over 750 winch launches, 3000 total launches, 2000 glider hours, and owns a Schempp-Hirth Janus C, the Taurus Electro G2.5, a Yak-52TW, and a Cessna 150J. He was a USAF Fighter Pilot for 21 years flying 5200 hours in all models of the F-4 and A/B/C/D models through Block 32 of the awesome F-16. He then flew 21 years with Southwest Airlines, 16 as a Captain, accumulating 15,000 hours in B-737-200/300/500/700/800 models. He has 2000 GA hours with 1200 in the Yak. He holds an ATP, CFI, CFII, and CFIG. He also has 10 minutes of F-16 glider flight time.
Kim Slawinski is a 1980 graduate of the Uniform Services University of the Health Sciences. She retired with 34 years of Air Force service as a Flight Surgeon, Ophthalmologist, and Hospital and Medical Center Commander. She has 450 hours of rear cockpit F-16 and F-15 time plus another 300 hours in bomber, transport, tanker, and helicopter aircraft. She has 600 hours in 18 different single and two seat gliders and 2 motorgliders. She has 400 winch launches, and earned her private glider rating winching in a Slingsby T-21 with the RAF Marham Glider Club in 1975.
