Vintage gliders are an excellent option to enjoy soaring. These range from basic primary gliders to moderately-high performance wooden gliders that may be used regularly for cross-country flights. National and international vintage groups have been established that provide technical information
and social interaction. Because of the use of pieces of wood and steel tubing for the structural framework and skins made from fabric & thin plywood, inspections and maintenance are somewhat different from those for aluminum and composite aircraft. This presentation will discuss how vintage
gliders are constructed and how they can be maintained and repaired.
