TOPIC: “Fly Faster, Fly Farther”
“It’s simple really; if I can fly faster on a task, I can beat you on the scoresheet. If I fly faster on my daily flight, at the end of the day, my OLC flight will be longer. So let’s talk about a few things that will make you go faster.”
Garret comes from a glider family. His parents have owned Sky Sailing, Inc., since 1979. Garret represented the US Junior Team in 2003 and 2005. He credits the George Lee Camp at Plain Soaring for the knowledge gained to win the 2009 US Open Class Nationals and the Larissa Strouekoff Trophy in 2005 and 2006 for the fastest flight during a contest. Garret represented the US Open Class team in 2008 and 2010. His last move in classes was when he left 60:1 super ships to fly in Club Class, becoming US Club Class National Champion in 2013 and 2015. He is a full-time glider flight instructor at Sky Sailing.
