TOPIC: “How to Preserve and Extend the Life of Composite Sailplanes”
Hank Nixon has been a soaring pilot since 1972 and has done more than 12,000 glider flights and more than 8,000 tows. Most of this activity has been as part of the Valley Soaring Club in Middletown, NY, and the preceding commercial operation he ran with wife, Dianne, and a partner. He is a regular active instructor at the club.
Hank has flown many competitions and has been the US 15 M national champion and represented the US in two World Championships with a best finish of 7th.
In addition to flying, Hank spends a good bit of time helping to maintain the club fleet. He has restored or resurrected more than 30 aircraft over the years, mostly gliders.
