The SSA is proud to announce that Mark “Forger” Stucky has agreed to be the keynote speaker at the Awards Banquet, Saturday, February 20. Mark has a most impressive resume and, no doubt, will be a fascinating speaker.
Mark has joined Virgin Galactic as the lead test pilot. He will be working with its commercial flight team who is responsible for flying WhiteKnightTwo and SpaceShipTwo. He has had hands-on experience, having served in a number of roles in Scaled Composites’ WhiteKnightTwo and SpaceShipTwo development program, ranging from engineering test pilot for both vehicles to technical adviser, design engineer, instructor pilot, and project pilot. During his tenure at Scaled Composites, Stucky flew the majority of SpaceShipTwo’s envelope expansion flights and initiated its powered rocket motor test flight phase as pilot in command on the spaceship’s first powered flight.
He is an accomplished military and government test pilot and has flown for the U.S. Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, NASA, and international partners. He has logged over 9,000 flight hours in over 170 different models of aircraft. Stucky has also been an aerospace research test pilot at NASA’s Dryden (now Armstrong) Flight Research
Center, Edwards, California.
