Improvements to Glider Cocpit Safety; or Why I Need a New Sailplane
Tom Johnson hails from Pensacola, Florida. He is an active member of Coastal Soaring, has been an active glider pilot since 1975, and an active CFIG since 1978. He has 1000+ glider hours and 2600+ flights. After graduating from the University of Michigan, Tom entered the Navy and flew T-2’s and A-6’s. He made 387 shipboard landing, 115 at night, and has over 2000 hours of tactical jet time. Tom has been flying with United Parcel Service since 1994. He is currently flying as Captain on the 757/767. He has been a Trustee of the Soaring Safety Foundation for 4 years, and has been instructing the SSF Flight Instructor Revalidation Course for the last 10 years. He has Diamond Badge #997. Tom keeps busy at home flying a Mini-Nimbus C, a Pitts S-2C, and a Mooney M-20C.
