John H. Cochrane has been flying gliders since 1972, with a small detour to hang gliding in his youth. He has been actively competing since 1995, and was a member of the US team in Hungary in 2010. He has been a member of the rules committee and has written several articles for Soaring and other gliding publications on racing theory, safety, and rules. In real life, he recently moved to California from Chicago and is enjoying exploring the skies of Northern California.
